The Infectious Myth - Keidi Awadu on Raw Vegan Superfoods
Tuesday Jun 18, 2019
Tuesday Jun 18, 2019
Keidi Awadu, a raw vegan chef, wrote to David, less than complimentary about the Tim Noakes interview on high fat, high protein, high meat diets. Keidi believes that a vegan diet, with no animal products, is superior. Keidi and David go back a long way, which is how they start the discussion, but then they talk about what makes a good or bad diet. Both see the standard western diet, high in refined carbohydrates, as a big problem.

The Infectious Myth - Moorea Maguire and Transgender Issues
Tuesday Jun 04, 2019
Tuesday Jun 04, 2019
Moorea Maguire wrote to say she was unhappy with my coverage of transgender issues. So, instead of going back and forth on emails, which I find tends to harden positions, we decided to have a conversation on the air. Despite the best efforts of the Mexican internet to disrupt things, we found that we agreed on many things, and disagreed on others. Please let us know your thoughts.

The Infectious Myth - Jeff Deskovic on False Convictions - His own and others
Tuesday May 21, 2019
Tuesday May 21, 2019
Jeff Deskovic spent 16 years in jail for a horrific crime…that he did not commit. After being released, with part of a financial settlement he received, he started the Deskovic Foundation, dedicated to the exonerations of others, and went back to school, culminating in graduating with a law degree just before this interview. Jeff is a passionate advocate for the wrongfuly convicted, and talks about how he was convicted on the basis of a false confession, how DNA evidence and a true confession finally exonerated him. He also describes some of the reasons for false convictions, both in general, and by reference to some of the cases his foundation is currently involved with.

The Infectious Myth - Tim Noakes Converting to the High Fat Low Carb Diet
Thursday May 16, 2019
Thursday May 16, 2019
Tim Noakes is a professor of medicine and sports who ran into a spot of trouble because he promoted a high fat, low carb diet, while many of his colleagues were still welded to the low fat dietary fad. In the discussion Tim describes how he was always athletic, but ended up with diabetes anyway. He researched diet, became convinced that high carb diets were the culprit, and transitioned to a high fat, low carb diet, leaving diabetes behind him. We discuss his history, the rise and (almost) fall of the low fat, high carb diet, and also how he managed to avoid losing his medical license when challenged by his peers.
Now that he is retired, he spends his time at his foundation, promoting his dietary ideas.. You can learn more about it, and support it financially here: https://thenoakesfoundation.org

The Infectious Myth - Lesbians asserting their autonomy, with Amy Dyess
Tuesday May 07, 2019
Tuesday May 07, 2019
David discusses the conflict between lesbians and those male-born transgender activists who assert their right to be a woman just by saying so, and who want to be classed as lesbians despite their male genitalia. Amy asserts the right of lesbian to restrict their sexual attraction to people without penises, if that is what they feel, without being accused of transphobia. Whereas the non-violent objections of lesbians (and other categories often include in the insult ‘TERF’ - Trans-Exclusive Radical Feminist) are often described as violence, the violent rhetoric, art and sometimes actions of transgender activists and their allies, are excused as a legitimate response to transphobia.

The Infectious Myth - William Parker cools Acetaminophen fever
Tuesday Apr 30, 2019
Tuesday Apr 30, 2019
It is natural for a parent to want to comfort a child, and for a child with a fever, this used to mean giving them aspirin. When this was discovered to sometimes cause the deadly brain and liver swelling known as Reyes Syndrome, recommendations were changed to Acetaminophen, marketed under many names, most famously, Tylenol. Duke University surgeon William Parker believes that this is not as safe as widely believed, and can cause ADHD and Autism. David discusses the evidence for this theory with William, and they also discuss alternatives to drugs in the case of fevers.
An informal article by Dr. Parker on this issue is here: http://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/tylenol-damages-brains-children-research-reveals

The Infectious Myth - Trains
Tuesday Apr 16, 2019
Tuesday Apr 16, 2019
David discusses his dark secret - his love for trains. He was stimulated to talk about high speed rail when someone proposed that maglev was a practical and better option, putting in front of him a technical paper that was actually thinly disguised advertising for a bankrupt (literally) maglev proposal. His opinion, you will find, is that we need high speed rail, and the best way to get it is to ignore the unproven, exotic technologies, and goes withh what works. It would be a massive upgrade to North American inter-city transportation systems.
The technical paper is available here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/236993225_MAGLEV_-_Worldwide_Status_and_Technical_Review
David also discusses the attacks on former guest Chris Exley and his research on Aluminum, most controversially in vaccine adjuvants. A very biased article in The Sunday Times can be read here: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/funding-halted-for-professor-chris-exley-linking-vaccines-to-autism-8xvwp0g8p

Tuesday Apr 02, 2019
David talks with Meghan Murphy, a Vancouver based feminist, about the defunding by city council of Vancouver Rape Relief, the oldest and biggest organization to assist women affected by domestic violence. The organization provides a shelter only for biological women, which is justification given for removing city funding. This was caused by Morgane Oger, a transgender woman, who also has a position with the governing political party in British Columbia. To answer the seemingly obvious question of “what is a woman?”, David and Meghan wander into the area of sports, where the presence of intersex athletes and transgender women has raised controversies in the past, and in the present day.
Still banned from twitter, Meghan can be found online at: https://www.feministcurrent.com

The Infectious Myth - Judy Wilyman on Vaccines and Censorship in Australia
Tuesday Mar 26, 2019
Tuesday Mar 26, 2019
Judy Wilyman received a PhD with a thesis on the Australian vaccination schedule from a major Australian university. She was heavily criticized because, people said, it was awarded by the School of Humanities and Social Inquiry, and not medicine or hard core science. But she actually studied in science faculties, and it was just decided that a policy critique belonged in the humanities. Her thesis is very scholarly and probably ran into trouble merely because it is so critical of the government’s approach to vaccines, their lack of evidence for many claims they make, and the blatant conflicts of interest up to the highest levels of the government.
